AI for plumbers, electricians and builders

AI for tradespeople: fewer missed enquiries and faster quotes

We set up AI for plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers and other trades, so enquiries get an answer while you’re on a job and quotes get written without a late night at the kitchen table. The first call is free, then we agree one fixed price. You stay in charge of every price and every booking.

  • Works while you're up a ladder
  • Quotes from a voice memo
  • Every price checked by you
Where trades lose time

Three jobs AI can help tradespeople with

Missed enquiries

Answers while you're working

A website assistant answers ‘do you cover my village?’ and ‘do you do landlord certificates?’ at any hour, and takes details for a callback.

Quotes

Voice memo to quote

Talk the job through in the van. AI turns it into a quote in your template, with your prices, ready for you to check and send.

Paperwork

Inbox and follow-ups

New enquiries are pulled out of the clutter, and follow-up emails for quotes you haven’t heard back on are drafted for you.

Plain-English guide

How AI helps a small trade business without taking over

If you run a trade business, the work itself isn’t the problem. It’s everything around it. The phone rings while you’re under a floor. A customer emails at 9pm asking if you cover their village. You’ve done three site visits and owe three quotes, and the only time to write them is Sunday night.

AI won’t fix a boiler or wire a house. What it can do is look after the bits in between, so fewer enquiries go to the next name on Google and fewer evenings go on paperwork.

Catching enquiries you’d otherwise miss

Most people looking for a tradesperson contact two or three at once and go with whoever replies first. If you’re on a roof all day, that’s rarely you. A website assistant can answer the routine questions straight away: which areas you cover, whether you do a certain kind of job, roughly what it costs, and how soon you could come. Then it takes the customer’s name, number and a short description, and sends it to you.

It answers from the facts you give it, not from the internet. So it’ll say “we cover Welshpool and up to 15 miles around” because you told it that, and it’ll pass “can you come today, water’s pouring through the ceiling” straight to you rather than try to deal with it. Our page on AI chatbots for websites explains how that works in more detail.

Quotes from a voice memo

This is the one tradespeople tend to like most. After a site visit you record a voice memo: the address, what needs doing, materials, how long. AI turns it into a proper written quote using your template, your price list and your usual terms. It flags anything it can’t work out, like a missing measurement. You read it, change what needs changing and send it.

Done well, it turns a half-hour quote into a few minutes of checking. It never sends anything without you, and it never makes up a price you haven’t given it.

Following up quotes and tidying the inbox

A lot of work is lost simply because nobody followed up a quote. AI can spot quotes you haven’t heard back on and draft a short, friendly follow-up for you to send. It can also sort your inbox so new enquiries stand out from supplier emails and invoices. See AI admin automation for more.

Being found when people ask AI for a tradesperson

People increasingly ask ChatGPT or Google’s AI answers “who’s a good roofer near me?”. These tools rely on clear website pages, accurate listings and genuine reviews that mention the work. Our page on getting recommended by ChatGPT covers what helps, and why nobody can promise a recommendation.

Does my website need to be good first?

An assistant is only as good as the information behind it. If your website doesn’t say clearly what you do and where, that’s worth fixing first. We build websites for electricians, heating engineers, builders and roofers for £47 a month, and the AI setup is a separate fixed-price project if you want it.

How it works

How we set up AI for a trade business

  1. 01

    Free call

Tell us where you lose time or work. We’ll say which of these would make the most difference.

  2. 02

    Your facts and prices

We gather your areas, services, guide prices and quote template.

  3. 03

    Tested on real jobs

We try it on past enquiries and voice memos, and fix what it gets wrong.

  4. 04

    Handed over

We show you how to use it from your phone and check back after a few weeks.

Questions from tradespeople about AI

Will the assistant give customers prices?

Only the guide prices you’ve approved, like a standard boiler service or an EICR for a small flat. For anything else it says a visit or quote is needed and takes their details.

Can it book jobs into my diary?

We’d usually set it to take details for a callback rather than book directly, because you know how long jobs really take. If you already use an online booking system, it can point customers to that.

What happens with emergencies?

We set it to recognise urgent messages, like leaks or no power, and tell the customer to ring you or the right emergency number, then flag the message to you straight away.

Do I need to be good with computers?

No. If you can record a voice memo on your phone and read an email, you can use what we set up.

I'm a sole trader. Is this worth it for me?

Often it’s sole traders who gain most, because there’s nobody else to answer the phone or write quotes. If you only get a few enquiries a month, we’ll tell you it isn’t worth it yet.

Do you cover plumbers?

Yes. The same setup works for plumbers, electricians, heating engineers, builders, roofers, landscapers and other trades, built around your own services and prices.

How much does it cost?

The first call is free. Then we agree one fixed price for the job, such as a website assistant or quotes from voice memos, before we start.
