Eight checks you can do on your own phone
Do these as a customer would, on a phone, not as the person who already knows where everything is.

Does it load quickly on a phone?
A customer shouldn’t have to wait for a huge photo or an animation before they can see what you do.

Is it obvious how to get in touch?
Every important page should make it easy to call, email or send an enquiry. No dead ends.

Are your details still right?
Old opening hours, areas, services or prices make customers wonder what else is wrong.

Can you use it with one thumb?
Menus, buttons, forms and phone links need readable text and big enough tap targets on a phone.

Can Google understand it?
Clear headings, page titles, descriptions, the places you cover and a sitemap are the basics, not tricks.

Do your enquiry forms actually arrive?
Send yourself a test. Forms need spam protection and a reliable email notification, or real customers get lost.

Can you tell if it's bringing in work?
Page views alone don’t tell you much. Count calls, email taps and form enquiries.

Could it recover from a problem?

What to do if your website fails some of the checks
One or two weak answers usually means a small job: clearer wording, a fixed form, or the right opening hours. You don’t always need a new website.

How do I know if my website is too slow?
Open it on your phone over mobile data, not Wi-Fi. If you’re waiting more than a few seconds to see what the business does, customers will be too.
Do I need a new website or just a few fixes?
If it fails one or two checks, fix those first. If it fails most of them, or the site is hard to change, a replacement is often the better buy.
