Who owns a website when someone else builds it?
It’s a fair question to ask before you sign up for any pay monthly website. Some firms register the domain in their own name, or keep the site locked inside their own system, so leaving means starting again. We don’t work like that. With our £47 a month managed website, you own your domain and your content, and there’s no long contract.
Do I own my domain name?
Yes. A domain registered through us belongs to your business. If you already own a domain, you keep it and we connect it at the same price. If you ever leave, we transfer the domain to you free of charge. Our help article on what happens to your domain if you leave explains the steps.
Can I take my website with me?
Yes. Ask, and we send you the finished HTML, CSS and images free of charge. Because it’s a static website, it will run on almost any hosting, including our own cPanel web hosting if you want to look after it yourself.
How do I cancel?
From your billing page, whenever you like. There’s no notice period and no cancellation fee. Your site stays live until the end of the month you’ve paid for, plus a seven-day grace period, which gives you time to move. See how to cancel.
How we keep your website secure
Your managed website is plain HTML, built ahead of time. There’s no database to break into and no plugins to fall out of date, two common weak spots on small business websites. We keep the servers patched, install and renew the SSL certificate, and back the site up every night, keeping each backup for 30 days.
Who can see my account?
Only you and us. Customer, site, domain and admin areas are separated, and every request is checked against who owns the record, so one customer can’t reach another customer’s details.
Do you track my visitors?
We count visits, phone taps, email taps and enquiries ourselves, so you can see whether the site is bringing in work. We don’t build advertising profiles of your visitors. Our privacy policy has the details.
What if something goes wrong?
We restore the site from a recent backup. Monitoring checks that your site is up, HTTPS is working and your contact form gets through, and the alerts come to us. More on that on the hosting and care page.
