I can't sign in

There's no password to forget. Here's what to do when the code doesn't arrive.

There is no password to forget. Signing in works by sending a one-time code to your email address.

How it should work

  1. Enter your email address
  2. We email you a six-digit code
  3. Type it in
  4. You are signed in

The code is valid for a short time and can only be used once.

The code has not arrived

Check spam and junk. This is the answer roughly nine times out of ten. Mark it as “not spam” so future ones arrive properly.

Wait two minutes. Mail is usually instant but can queue.

Check you typed the address correctly. A code sent to a mistyped address goes nowhere and we cannot tell you that from the sign-in screen — deliberately, because confirming which addresses have accounts would leak that information to anyone who asked.

Check you are using the right address. If you signed up with a work address and are trying with a personal one, there is no account on the personal one. Search your inbox for mail from us to find which address you used.

Look for filters. If mail from us has been auto-filed into a folder once, later ones will follow it.

The code is not being accepted

Check for typos. Six digits, no spaces.

Use the most recent one. Requesting a new code invalidates the previous one. If you asked twice, only the second works.

Check it has not expired. Codes are short-lived. Request a fresh one.

Do not use a code twice. Each one works once.

I have lost access to the email address

This is the serious one, because the address is the account.

Get in touch from any address, tell us your business name and domain, and we will verify you another way before changing anything. Expect us to ask for something only the account holder would know — this is deliberate, since anyone able to talk us into moving an account could take over your website.

Once verified we will update the address on the account. See also correcting your email address for billing-related changes.

I am signed in but keep getting logged out

Sessions expire after a period of inactivity, which is normal.

If it is happening constantly, it is usually a browser set to clear cookies on close, or private browsing mode. Check your browser settings, or try a different browser to confirm.

Nothing here has worked

Get in touch with the email address you are trying to use and roughly when you last managed to sign in. We can see from our side whether the code was sent, whether it was delivered, and whether it was used.
