Cancelling your site

How to cancel, what happens to your site, and how to keep your domain.

No minimum term, no cancellation fee, no phone call to sit through.

How to cancel

From your dashboard, go to Billing and choose to manage your subscription. Cancel there, in Stripe’s own portal.

You can also get in touch and ask us to do it, if you would rather.

What happens next

You keep the site until the end of the period you have paid for. Cancel on the 3rd with a billing date of the 20th, and it stays live until the 20th. You are not cut off the moment you click.

After that, the site comes offline. The pages stop being served and the domain stops resolving to them.

We keep your data for a short grace period, so that a change of mind or an accidental cancellation is recoverable rather than final. Get in touch within that window and we can restore it.

After the grace period, it is deleted properly. Files, pages, images, the lot.

Your domain

If you brought your own domain: it is unaffected. It is registered in your name with your registrar. Point it wherever you like next.

If we registered it for you: it is still yours. It was registered in your name, not ours. Tell us before you cancel and we will unlock it and give you the authorisation code so you can transfer it to another registrar.

Do this before the renewal date. A domain that lapses can be difficult and expensive to recover, and once it is gone somebody else can register it.

Your content

The words and images are yours. If you want a copy of the content before it comes down, ask and we will send it.

We are not going to hold your own business description hostage.

Your email

If your email uses your domain, cancelling does not delete your mailboxes — those are with whoever provides your email. But if the domain stops being managed by us and you have not moved it somewhere, DNS stops resolving and email stops arriving.

Sort your domain out first, and email follows automatically. See keeping your email working.

Coming back

If you return within the grace period, everything is restored as it was.

After that, it is a fresh start — new brief, new build. We do not charge a rejoining fee.

Before you go

If you are cancelling because something has not worked out, we would genuinely like to know why. Tell us — bluntly is fine. If it is something we can fix, we would rather fix it than lose you, and if it is not, it is still useful for us to hear.
