Uploading your logo

What file to send, what size, and what we do if you haven't got one.

You can upload a logo during the brief, or add one later from your dashboard.

What to upload

Best: a PNG with a transparent background. This sits cleanly on any colour we use behind it.

Fine: JPG, or a PNG with a white background. If your site’s header is white anyway, nobody will ever know the difference.

Also fine: an SVG, if your designer gave you one. These stay sharp at any size.

Size

Bigger than you think. Aim for at least 500 pixels wide. We resize down cleanly; we cannot invent detail that is not there.

A logo pulled off your own website by right-clicking is usually too small and will look soft in the header. If you have the original file from whoever designed it, use that.

What not to upload

  • A photograph of a sign or a van
  • A screenshot of your logo
  • A logo with a big white border baked into the image
  • A file where the logo is tiny in the middle of a large canvas

Any of these will work, technically, but they will look worse than no logo at all.

What if I do not have a logo?

Genuinely not a problem, and quite common.

We set your business name as a wordmark — your name typeset properly in the site’s own typeface, often with a small geometric mark alongside it. On a lot of the sites we build this looks better than the logo the customer eventually commissions.

You can add a real logo later without rebuilding anything.

Where it appears

Your logo goes in the site header on every page, and usually in the footer. If it works at small sizes it may also be used as the browser tab icon.

If it only reads at large sizes — lots of fine detail, or a long tagline underneath — tell us in the brief and we will use the wordmark in the header instead and put the full logo somewhere it has room to breathe.

Changing it later

From your dashboard, open your site and go to your business details. Upload a new file and request a revision so we rebuild the pages with it. The change appears once the revision is approved.
