CloudLinux is a linux based operating system which is essentially a set of kernel modifications to the Linux distribution that implements features to enable system administrators to take a greater level of control of their server’s resource use, isolating users so that possible problems or security issues with a single account doesn't degrade the service for others web hosting users.Cloud linux virtualizes user accounts called as LVE ( LightWeight Virtual Environment ). Each LVE is allotted a certain amount of resources.
Some of the major benefits to CloudLinux are:
Each user has their own set of resources, allowing great customisation and control over their alloted server space. This can be very handy for users using their own content management systems (CMS) which may require slightly different pre-requisite
Control via LVE manager:
LVE Manager allows server admins to control and limit the amount of hardware each web hosting user has access to. This greatly reduces the risk of possible issues through DDoS or server hogging. The LVE technology allows users to have dedicated access to certain resources that other users cannot use.
Multiple Versions of PHP for users
Users can select multiple versions of PHP based off their own individual requirements. Users can also select certain PHP extensions and modify their own php.ini files to their specific needs. This can be done through cPanel or any other web hosting interface.
